Creating a new project:

Click on “Create New” and choose either “Movie” or “Trailer”
- Movie—Lets you combine videos, photos, and music to make your own movie
- Trailer—You can follow a template to create a Hollywood-style movie trailer

Importing media:

Drag and drop your videos, photos, and / or music files from Finder directly into the “timeline” or from any existing iMovie library under the MyMedia panel
You can even add extra music samples under Audio or images under Backgrounds
You can also record from your microphone using “Record” Voiceover” by setting “source” to “built-in microphone”

Editing:

The “timeline” has your main video track (there’s a dark marker at the beginning of it) and the audio tracks are just below it
To move any “clip” in time, click on it and you can drag it over to another spot
To remove the audio content of a video, right click on it and go to “detach audio”
To “trim” a video clip, drag it from the edges and it will remove the video and audio
To “split” one of your video clips, right click the main marker and go to ”split clip”
To adjust the audio level of your video, just move the envelope line up or down

Transitions:

You can add fades and other transitions to the start or end of video clips or photos
Drag from the corners of images and video clips for smooth transitions
By selecting “trim,” you can remove part of the video by clicking on the blue bars and moving it to a location on your “timeline” where you want the clip to start or finish
Add transitions between clips by dragging and dropping from the “transitions” panel

Titles & text:

There are several text templates in the “Titles” panel, which you can import by dragging and dropping it on your timeline
This creates a “text” clip that can be moved and edited like all your other clips
Then just double click on the preview to type in your text

Saving & exporting your video:

Go to the “Share” button in the top right corner
Choose to “export video and audio,” and set the resolution to 1080p
Hit “next,” name your video, choose “where to export it,” and click “save” to start rendering (that’s just combining all the clips, edits, and audio into one final video)
Once it’s done rendering, you can upload your video to the O.A.T. website
