Egypt & the Eternal Nile by Private, Classic River-Yacht (16 days) and Ancient Egypt & the Nile River (16 days) are O.A.T.'s longer, more relaxed itineraries (activity level 2). While they differ in ship size, both allow travelers more time to experience Egypt, with longer itineraries and additional nights on land in hotels. The focus is on balancing the country's legendary archaeological sites with deeper cultural exploration and a more leisurely pace.

The main difference between the two comes down to the Nile cruise itself.

On Egypt & the Eternal Nile by Private, Classic River-Yacht, you’ll sail aboard a traditional dahabeya, carrying just 16 passengers. With only your small group onboard, the atmosphere feels more like a private yacht than a cruise ship. The dahabeya spends five nights on the Nile, while the itinerary includes additional hotel stays on land.

Ancient Egypt & the Nile River sails aboard the M/V Nefertiti, a 75-passenger river ship with private balconies, spacious public areas, and the lively atmosphere of a larger community of travelers. You’ll spend seven nights cruising the Nile in three groups of up to 25, each with its own Trip Experience Leader.

Exploring Egypt’s highlights for travelers with less time:

Our two shorter itineraries—Timeless Egypt: Sailing the Nile and Nile Cruise & Egypt's Ancient Artifacts—offer a more active experience (activity level 3) designed for travelers who want to see Egypt's highlights in a shorter timeframe.

Unlike the longer itineraries, these journeys focus on delivering the greatest concentration of must-see experiences within a shorter schedule.

In addition to the Nile cruising style, one of the biggest distinctions to consider is a visit to Abu Simbel.

Timeless Egypt: Sailing the Nile (11 days) does not include Abu Simbel. Instead, its appeal lies in the experience of sailing aboard a traditional dahabeya with just 16 travelers. The itinerary features a five-night cruise between Esna and Aswan and emphasizes the intimacy and flexibility of small-ship travel. The Grand Egyptian Museum visit comes at the end of the journey, as opposed to the very beginning on the Nefertiti-based itineraries.

Nile Cruise & Egypt's Ancient Artifacts (12 days), on the other hand, includes a visit to the monumental temples of Abu Simbel—one of Egypt's most famous archaeological sites—as well as the Temple of Dendera (water levels permitting). Travelers also spend seven nights aboard the M/V Nefertiti, combining a shorter overall trip with an extended Nile cruise experience.
